“Photographs can be made stronger by what isn’t seen. Absence of a person or the photographer herself invites us to look deeper and discover imaginative new layers.”  —Jessie Wender

I found this quote, highlighted by my dad, on a loose sheet of magazine paper as I was digging through my neatly compiled 9x12 yellow envelopes filled with 8 years worth of letters and magazine clippings.

My inherited clippings served as a lifeline to his love & guidance as he tried his best to provide through confinement. My dad's handwritten urges to share his pruned resources included many people – & especially always my sisters: Phylicia, Ashanti, & our youngest, Avion.
