Hailing from the Westside of Chicago
Qurissy is the creative for creatives currently based in Los Angeles, California. Often documenting music artists, writers, and image makers, she aims to evoke familiarity and authenticity in her work. Qurissy’s goal is to direct her subjects to be their own storytellers. As an image maker herself, her work is abundant in texture, deep tone, and richness. In recognition of her skills, she was awarded the prestigious residency at The Getty Center and Black Image Center in 2023. Qurissy brings this expertise into her art direction at Gumbo Media across projects like zines, cover art, and brand development projects.
In addition to her photography and art direction, she has been a member of Black Women Photographers since 2021, is the host of the annual Black Women Photographers Summit, serves as an executive board member of Black Girls Shred , and co-organized Feed the Westside in Chicago. Currently, she is expanding her expertise in medium and large formats to further refine her craft with a current interest in landscapes.
Qurissy is available for commissions around the world.
